Of Light Rail...
Citizen #381277

Seeing as you're all for light rail transit systems, Russ, I've done a little googling and found some interesting sites pertaining to everyone's favourite method of mass transit, LIGHT RAIL!

North American Light Rail page

Well...
...not my favourite form of transit. That is high speed rail. Really high speed too, not this rubbish on which someone should write one day soon.

But I do like trams, for their elegance, if nothing else, and because buses suck. (An aside: if you type "Melbourne buses suck" into google, CivilPandemonium comes third - yay!).

The really interesting page though, is this one. Because it shows just how many light rail systems are being installed, or proposed right now. Why they are installing light rail and not buses (which is what is proposed for Melbourne) I am not sure of though. I don't think it is true to say that buses can't work; however it might be true to say that the investment required for light rail means that its promoters take the mindset that it has to work whereas buses seem to have this transit for the sake of transit thing. Which might explain why almost every bus route in Melbourne seems to go from somewhere to nowhere.
